Unfortuanlty, this is not uncommon. It is easy to underestimate how much damage a little moisture can wreak when it can go where it doesn’t belong.

The recessed niche is trimmed and completed with a handy inset shelf. The white band is a “bridge” piece we install that allows us to install all the heavy tile first, and then add the glass inlay with perfect control and accuracy.

This Raleigh couple couldn’t use their master bathroom. The previous owner had neglected a leak at the shower door and it did some damage. They wanted to get rid of the faded and cracked cultured marble walls and tub (and who can blame them!). The spacing between the new shower pan and the soaking tub was VERY tight…kids, don’t try this at home!
Enter CIS.
Let’s check it out…

PROJECT: Hag
Here is a look the water damage. It easily worked through the subfloor and made its presence known in kitchen ceiling down below.
If you have a leaking shower, do your future self a favor and get an experienced and professional company like CIS out their to help, sooner, rather than later!

You can see that we already removed the cultred marble wall panel. The shower pan didn’t hold up well either, as you can see by the discoloration and staining.

PROJECT: Hag
Even if your walls are not visibly cracked and damaged, moisture can still penetrate behind the panel causing system breakdown.

Exceptional performance of a shower area isn’t in the final wall product, it’s in the installation system. You can see that this install only had blobs of liquid nail on sheetrock.
Adding a full waterproofing system behind your finished panel is CIS standard protocol.

This is the old cultured marble tub. This and many other aging bathrooms in the Triangle have the old circulating pump and jet systems that hold water in the delivery tubes creating a hideous black, murky plume of “ick” in the tub if you dare to turn it on.

PROJECT: Hag
The floor fixed, shower pan and tub installed, plumbing is completed for new mixing valve and tub filler, and tile is going in…
